लाओत्से ने जो भी कहा है, वह पच्चीस सौ साल पुराना जरूर है, लेकिन एक अथों में इतना ही नया है, जैसे सुबह की ओस की बूंद नई होती है। नया इसलिए है कि उस पर अब तक प्रयोग नहीं हुआ। नया इसलिए है कि मनुष्य की आत्मा उस रास्ते पर एक कदम भी अभी नहीं चली। रास्ता बिलकुल अछूता और कुंवारा है।
पुराना इसलिए है कि पच्चीस सौ साल पहले लाओत्से ने उसके संबंध में खबार दी। लेकिन नया इसलिए है कि उस खबार को अब तक
सुना नहीं गया है। और आज उस खबर को सुनने की सर्वाधिक जरूरत आ गई है, जितनी कि कभी भी नहीं थी। क्योंकि मनुष्य ने पुरुष-चित्त का प्रयोग करके देख लिया है। यह पच्चीस सौ वर्ष का पिछला इतिहास पुरुष-चित्त के प्रयोग का इतिहास है–तर्क का, संघर्ष का, हिंसा का, आक्रमण का, विजय की आकांक्षा का। यह पच्चीस सौ वर्ष में हमने प्रयोग करके देखा है। आदमी रोज-रोज ज्यादा से ज्यादा दुःखी हुआ है। जो हम पाना चाहते थे, वह मिला नहीं; जो हमारे पास था, वह भी खो गया है। यह पुरुष-चित्त के आधार पर हमने प्रयोग करके देख लिया, और हम असफल हो गए हैं।
लाओत्से ने जब कहा था, तब पुरुष-चित्त पर इतनी बड़ी असफलता नहीं हुई थी। इसलिए लाओत्से को सुना नहीं गया। अच्छा हो कि
हम ऐसा कहें कि लाओत्से अपने समय के पच्चीस सौ वर्ष पहले पैदा हो गया। यह उसकी भूल थी। उसे आज पैदा होना चाहिए था। आज उसकी बात सुनी जा सकती थी।
पुरुष हार चुका यह कोशिश करके कि हम सिर्फ पुरुष के आधार पर दुनिया को निर्मित कर लें । लेकिन पुरुष से ज्यादा गहरा तत्व स्त्री है; और उसे हम काट कर जीवन को निर्मित नहीं कर पाए । हमने सारी जमीन को एक पागलखाना जरूर बना लिया है; हम उसे एक परिवार नहीं बना पाए । वह स्त्री केंद्र पर न हो, तो कोई भी घर पागलखाना हो जाएगा। वह स्त्री केंद्र पर हो, तो हमारे हजार तरह के तनावों को विसर्जित करने का काम करती है। अगर संस्कृति के केंद्र पर भी स्त्री हो, तो हमारे हजार तरह के तनाव विसर्जित हो जाते हैं। स्त्रैण-चित्त को हमें संस्कृति के निर्माण में बुनियादी आधार देना पड़ेगा । और वक्त आ गया है कि हमें आने वाले तीस-चालीस वर्षों में निर्मित करना है। इसलिए मैंने लाओत्से पर बात शुरू करनी उचित समझी।

We have tried this experiment on the basis of male mind, and we have failed.
When Lao Tzu said, there was not such a big failure on the man's mind. Hence Laotsay was not heard. Good that
Let us say that Lao Tzu was born twenty-five hundred years before his time. This was his mistake. He should have been born today. Today he could be heard.
Man has lost by trying to make the world based on man alone. But the element deeper than male is female; And we could not create life by cutting it. We have made the entire land a madhouse; We could not make him a family. If that woman is not at the center, then any house will become a madhouse. If that woman is at the center, then she works to immerse our thousand kinds of stresses. If there is a woman at the center of culture, then our thousand kinds of stresses are immersed. We have to give basic foundation to the creation of culture. And the time has come that we have to build in the next thirty-forty years. So I thought it appropriate to start talking on Lao Tzu.
