राहत होती है। नहीं हो कोई साथ, मेरी नाव बिलकुल खाली है और मैं हूं;आंख बंद करके भी सपना देख लूँ कि कोई साथ है नाव पर,
अकेला नहीं हूं, तो भी राहत मिलती है। शायद इसीलिए आदमी सपने देखता है। और सपने सोकर ही देखता हो, ऐसा नहीं; जाग कर भी देखता है।
जिन्हें हम धर्म कहते हैं, वह हमारे फैलाए गए बड़े-बड़े स्वप्न हैं। जिनमें में हमने वही देख लिया है, जो हम चाहते हैं। और बड़े सस्ते में
देख लिया है। चूंकि एक आदमी एक बार भोजन करता है, या एक आदमी एक लंगोटी पहनता है, या एक आदमी नग्न खड़ा हो जाता है, या एक आदमी रोज मंदिर की घंटिया बजा देता है, तो वह सोेचता है,मोक्ष सुनिश्चित हुआ, निश्चित हुआ स्वर्ग ।
नहीं, प्रकृति सदय नहीं है।
लेकिन दया की भीख कौन मांगते हैं ? दया की भीख सदा ही गलत लोग मांगते हैं। ठीक आदमी दया की भीख नहीं मांगेगा। मिलती
भी हो, तो इनकार करेगा। क्योंकि जो दया करके पाया जाता है, वह कभी पाया ही नहीं जाता। जो दया से मिलता है, वह कभी मिल
ही नहीं पाता, वह हमारे प्राणो का कभी हिस्सा नहीं हो पाता। जो हमारे श्रम से ही आविर्भूत होता है, वही केवल हमारी संपदा है।
लाओत्से कहता है, प्रकृति सदय नहीं है। कठोर है? कठोर भी नहीं है। प्रकृति सिर्फ आपके प्रति निरपेक्ष है। आपके प्रति प्रकृति का कोई भी भाव नहीं है, निर्भावी है। पक्ष-विपक्ष नहीं है। हम सदा तोड़ कर सोेचते हैं, प्रकृति मित्र है या शत्रु है। न हीं प्रकृति मित्र है, न हीं प्रकृति शत्रु है। प्रकृति आपका कोई लेखा-जोखा नहीं रखती। आप एकाउंटेबल ही नहीं हैं। आपका कोई हिसाब नहीं रखा जाता है। आप न होते, तो कुछ कमी नहीं होती। आप होते हैं, तो कुछ बढ़ नहीं जाता है। पानी पर खींची गई लकीरों जैसा हमारा होना है; पानी को कोई अंतर नहीं पड़ता। लकीर खींच भी नहीं पाती कि मिट जाती है और बुझ जाती है। सदय नहीं है, इसका अर्थ ? इसका अर्थ है, आपके प्रति कोई भाव नहीं है।
यह एक दृष्टि से कठोर, दूसरी दृष्टि से बहुत ही आनंदपूर्ण बात है। क्योंकि अगर प्रकृति भी भाव रखती हो, तो वहां भी पक्षपात हो ही
जाएगा। फिर कोई वहां भी धोखा देने में समर्थ हो जाएगा। फिर वहां कोई पाप भी करेगा और स्वर्ग भी पहुंच जाएगा, और कोई पूण्य भी करेगा और नर्क में सड़ेगा। अगर कोई भी भाव है अस्तित्व के पास, तो चुनाव शुरू हो जाएगा।
इसलिए सारे दुनिया के धर्म, जो कि चुनाव पर ही खड़े हैं और प्रकृति के सदय होने की धारणा पर खड़े हैं, निर्णय करते हैं। अगर हम मुसलमान से पूछें कि गैर-मुसलमान का क्या होगा? तो मुसलमान को लगता है, भटकेगा दोजख में, कोई उपाय नहीं है गैर-मुसलमान
के लिए । ईसाई से पूछें, गैर-ईसाई का क्या होगा? तो जो ईसा के पीछे नहीं है, वह अंधेरे में भटक जाएगा! परमात्मा ने तो अपना बेटा

अगर परमात्मा का कोई बेटा है, तो उपद्रव होगा। और अगर परमात्मा के बेटे के पक्ष में होने की सुबिधा है और असतित्व भी उसके
पक्ष में हो जाएगा, तो फिर कठिनाई है।
नहीं, लाओत्से कहता है, प्रकृति का कोई बेटा नहीं। प्रकृति का कोई अपना नहीं, क्योंकि प्रकृति का कोई पराया नहीं है। प्रकृति किसी
को स्वीकार नहीं करती, क्योंकि प्रकृति किसी को इनकार नहीं करती है। प्रकृति का कोई पक्ष नहीं है; प्रकृति पक्षधर नहीं है।
यह आनंद की बात है एक अर्थ में। इसलिए जिसकी जितनी सामर्थ्य और जिसका जितना बल, वही हो जाएगा। कोई पक्षपात नहीं
होगा। अगर नर्क होगा, तो मेरा अर्जन। और अगर स्वर्ग होगा, तो मेरा अर्जन । न मैं किसी को दोषी ठहरा पाऊंगा और न किसी को
उत्तरदायी। न मैं किसी को धन्यवाद दे पाऊंगा और न किसी को गालियां दे पाऊंगा कि तुम्हारी वजह से सब गडबड़ हो गई है।
लाओत्से के इस वचन का अर्थ है, अल्टीमेंटली आई एम दि रिस्पांसिबल; अल्टीमेट रिस्पांसिबिल्टी इज़ विद मी। आत्यंतिक रूप से मैं ही दायित्व का भागीदार हूं, कोई और नहीं।
