पुरुष समय में जीता है। स्त्री स्थान में, स्पेस में जीती है। यह संयोग आपको खयाल में शायद न आया हो कि घर पुरुष ने नहीं बनाया, स्त्री ने बनाया। अगर पुरुष का वश चले, तो घर को कभी न बनने दे। क्योंकि घर के साथ पुरुष सदा ही बंधा हुआ अनुभव करता है निकट से। दूर की यात्रा कमजोर हो जाती है। पुरुष जन्मजात खानाबदोश है, आवारा है। जितना दूर भटक सके! इसलिए पुरुष के मन में भटकने की बड़ी तीव्र आकांक्षा है।
लाओत्से या उपनिषद के लोग, भारत में या पूरब के मुल्कों में, बिलकुल ही टाइम कांशसनेस से मुक्त थे। उन्हें समय की कोई धारणा न थी। न दूर की कोई धारणा थी। लाओत्से ने कहा है कि मेरे गांव के पार, सुना है मैंने अपने बुजुर्गों से कि नदी के उस तरफ गांव था। कुत्तों की आवाज सुनाई पड़ती थी कभी रात के सन्नाटे में । कभी सांझ को उस गांव के मकानों पर उठता हुआ धुआं भी हमें दिखाई पड़ता था। लेकिन हमारे गांव में से कभी कोई उत्सुक नहीं हुआ जाकर देखने को तक उस तरफ कौन रहता है।

Men live in time. The woman lives in space, in space. You may not have realized this coincidence that the man did not build the house, the woman made it.
