द्वंद्व जीवन का सार है, तो हम जो भी करेंगे, उससे विपरित भी तत्काल हो जाएगा। चाहे हमें ज्ञात हो, चाहे हमें ज्ञात न हो ;

इसलिए लाओत्से कहता है, ज्ञानी बिना सक्रिय हुए व्यवस्था करते हैं। बिना सक्रिय हुए व्यवस्था करते हैं। अगर वह चाहते हैं कि आपका मंगल हो, तो आपके मंगल के लिए सक्रिय नहीं होते। अगर वे मंगल के लिए सक्रिय होंगे, तो आपका अमंगल भी हो जाएगा।
